Description : | The milk jug is made of porcelain decorated in an oriental inspired theme. The rim of the milk jug is decorated with a series of flowers and triangular patterns. The scene depicted on the milk jug is a river surrounded by a village of homes. On the river there is a boat travelling across. It is being propelled by a man using a long pole while 2 other passengers sit in the boat. The village that surrounds the water is made of homes that are built on stilts with straw thatched roofs. There are some etching of houses that are seen across the water. There are trees behind the village with branches reaching over the water. The trees appear to hold cherry blossums on their branches as there are raised areas of orange and white paint over the branches of the trees. The handle has a thin gold line running down the centre of it. The spout has a thin navy line around its rim. The skyline that is part of the scene is painted over the lower edge of the spout. |
