| Description: | White square/rectangle handkerchief embroidered with various flowers in one corner. Along the outside edges there is a netlike pattern that extends about 2 cm away from the principal white square. The flowers have green stems and the petals can be pink, light pink, purple, or blue. The outside design is an intermingled mix of pink, blue, orange, yellow, and purple. |
| History of Use: | It was in the 15th century that European traders brought handkerchiefs over from China and adopted them for their modern use. In renaissance portraits women and men alike can be seen holding handkerchiefs embroidered and edged in lace like this one. |
