| Description: | Item is a long, thin strip of metal, which branches off into 7 protrusions which resemble prongs. The thin strip is the middle component of the gate, while the prongs are on the outside. The middle component of the gate has a drill hole in the very center of it. |
| Narrative: | This gate came from the remenants of the Enterprise foundry in Sackville, New Brunswick. This is a piece of scrap that would be created during the moulding process. This gate is the biproduct of the pouring process. |
| History of Use: | The gating system serves many purposes, the most important being conveying the liquid material to the mold, but also controlling shrinkage, the speed of the liquid, turbulence, and trapping dross. The gates are usually attached to the thickest part of the casting to assist in controlling shrinkage. |
