| Description : | Item is a large sifter. It is primarily made of wood. It is lined with a mesh iron wiring and said wiring is supported by 4 thin iron bars which are placed underneath the mesh to provide support. The sifter is a circular object and it has two layers of wood. The first is a few pieces of wood that form the outer perimeter and hold the metal wiring and caging in place, and next is the top ;layer which bears semblance to the first layer of wood. The thin iron bars which support the iron mesh are two bars laid parallel on each in the middle which intersect with the other two bars perpendicularly. |
| Commentaires : | This particular sifter was used by Charles Trenholm in the moulding shop at the Enterprise foundry in Sackville, NB. Charles used this in the process of moulding when he was forming the metalwork. He would use this sifter to sprinkle sand over the casting. |
| Fonctions : | This was used in the moulding process in the Sackville foundries. It would be used to coat the moulding boxes (the tops of them) with sand. |
