| Description: | Thick black piece of leather, roughly rectangular in shape. There are four large circular silver studs punched into the leather. The sides in the middle are scalloped. One end is cut into a tapered shape. There are small holes punched along the sides of the leather which appear to be the remnants of thread which was sewn through, but is now unravelled. There are still some small ends of thread left in the holes. |
| Narrative: | Made by Bill Long at the Sackville Harness Shop. Founded in 1919, the Sackville Harness Shop handmade a variety of quality leather goods before its closure in May 2021 with the retirement of its longtime owner and leather craftsman Bill Long. The harness shop was famous for its harnesses, along with its straw-stuffed horse collars. In later years, the shop branched into making belts, bags, and boots |
