Description : The boat is a replica of a Monkstyle dory. The exterior and interior of the dory have been painted yellow with a small green trim at the top of the boat. The dory has two oar locks on either side of the boat located approximately in the centre of the boat. Two paddles lay across the seats of the boat and a yellow throw line is coiled on the floor of the boat near the bow. There are four seats located vertically in the boat.
Commentaires : The monk style dory is a cross handed or single man fishing row dory, patterned after the dories built by John and Charles Monk of Monkstown, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland. Neither the monk dory nor the Lunenburg dory had rubbers or rubbing strokes nailed outside the gunnels and "landlubbers" often mistook one for the other. People familiar with dories could easily tell the difference between them because the Lunenburg had a raised gunnel and the Monk did not.
