| Description : | A circular, light green tinted soda-lime (or soda) glass three-piece metal mould blown (moulded glassware) bottle. The base of the artifact exhibits a shallow circular indentation, upon which there appears an embossed ':2'. From the heel area, the body portion rises vertically to a rounded shoulder segment. From here, the bulged neck-finish area extends upwared to a crown finish. On the side of the body area, 'PROPERTY OF' appears in horizontal embossed lettering, while 'SILVER SPRING BREWEREY. LTD. VICTORIA, B.C.' appears within a circular pattern; also in embossed lettering. In the centre of the latter, two large embossed 'S's, and a large embossed 'B' appear intertwined with each other. Note: 1) The style of the finish was designed to take a crown closure. (Parks, p. 79) 2) Colour was produced by the use of copper, copper oxides, chromium or iron as an additive to the silica. 3) The embossed markings were made by the use of full size moulds; either blown, pressed, or machine made.PH1 2006 |
