Description : A circular dark green tinted soda-lime (or soda) glass three-piece metal mould (moulded glassware) beer bottle. The artifact's base exhibits a shallow concave basal profile, upon which can be seen an Owen suction scar. In addition, 'BOTTLE MADE IN ENGLAND', '14' '9', and 'UCB' all appear in embossed lettering. From the rounded heel, the body portion of the artifact rises vertically to a champagne shoulder area. From here, a tapered neck-finish area extends upward to a crown finish which has a circular bore. Upon the body area of the item there has been affixed an oval shaped tan coloured paper label, upon which 'GUINESS FOREIGN EXTRA STOUT', and 'ST. JAMES'S GATE DUBLIN' both appear in black print lettering along with additional manufacturer information. A trapazoid shaped tan paper label has been affixed to the neck-finish area, and upon this information appears in black print lettering. Note: Colouration is the result of either copper, copper oxide, chromium or iron having been added to the silicate. The crown finish was invented in 1891 (patented 1892) by William Painter. It can be formed by either a finishing tool or a machine.PH1 2006 Ph2 2007
