The undersurface of the artifact's base exhibits a dome basal profile, upon which 'THIS BOTTLE MADE IN SCOTLAND' and '2' both appear in embossed lettering. From the rounded heel, the body area of the item rises vertically to a champagne shoulder. From here a tapered neck-finish area extends up to a crown finish that in turn has a circular bore. Affixed to the body are of the item is an oval shaped red, white and black paper label, upon which 'McEWAN'S INDIA PALE ALE' appears in both red and black lettering, as well as a black and white image of a human hand which is shown holding up an image of the world. Note: Green colouration is due to the addition of either copper, copper oxides, chromium, or iron to the silicate. The crown finish was invented in 1891 by William Painter. U.S. patent 1892. It is formed by either a finishing tool or a machine.PH1 2006
