| Description : | A circular dark green tinted soda-lime (soda) glass Ricketts mould (moulded glassware) beer bottle. The undersurface of the artifact's base exhibits a rounded cone basal profile. From the rounded heel, the body area of the item rises vertically to a rounded shoulder shoulder form. From here a bulged neck-finish area extends upward to a two-part finish segment which has a circular bore. Affixed to one area of the body portion of the artifact is an oval shaped light brown coloured paper label, upon which 'GUINNESS'S EXTRA STOUT' and 'JAMES'S GATE DUBLIN' both appear in black print lettering. Also affixed to the body area is an oval shaped blue and white paper label, upon which both blue print lettering and the blue and white image of a stork appear. The lower half of the finish area, and part of the neck-finish area have been covered with aluminum foil. Note: Green colouration is due to the presence of either copper, copper oxides, chromium or iron in the silicate.PH1 2006 |
