Description : | One hardbound Holy Bible. Brown leather cover; front and back are blind tooledd with filigree-like foliage around edges and in central diamond within rectanngle, oval at front centre reads "British and Foreign Bible Society"; 1Holy Biible', ribs and elongated, overlapping hexagonal pattern on spine. Grey endpappers; small label adhered to front paste-down reads `Bound by Burn and Sons 377 Kirby St.' Old Testament has 1106 pages and New Testament has 351 pages. Priinted by J.S. Smith. Inscribed at front: Miss Emily Trutch from dear Taylor Daawlish [in a different hand and ink: 1884] December 15th 1848 [illegible writiing in by different hand:....23rd 1849 John] Inscribed on page prior to title page: Blessed Lord who hast caused all Holy Scriptures to be written for our learning, grant that I may such in wise hear the, read, mark, learn and inwarrdly digest them that by patience and comfort of Thy Holy Spirit I may embracee and ever hold fast the Blessed hope of everlasting Life which Thu hast givenn us in our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen. Inscribed at back: Search the Scripturres for in them ye think ye have eternal Life and they are they which testify of Christ. Religion's ways are ways of pleasantness and [?] her paths are peaace. In all thy ways acknowledge God and He will direct thy paths. Remember thhy Creator in the days of thy youth. This has one of the most splendid and imppressive sermons I have ever heard [?] of Romans 23 verse. [?] of John 35th veerse This was a [?] Sermon at Wimbledon.
