Commentaires : This bookcase remained in the Charles Moffitt family from the time of construction until it was purchased from his great grandson, Charles Pickard. Charles Moffitt was born in 1821 and died in 1905. He had immigrated from Donegal, Ireland in 1846 and settled in the city of Fredericton, New Brunswick. In1853 he married Eliza Fowler, daughter of John Fowler. The had 11 children. The family attended Christ Church Cathedral. Charles Moffitt was listed in Hutchinson's directory for the years 1867 to 1868 as a carpenter. He had a shop and home on Charlotte Street in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Charles Moffitt had a daughter, Margaret Alexander (December 30, 1860 to April 10, 1898). She married Thomas Edgar of Kingsclear on September 30, 1895. Thomas and Margared had a daughter Margaret born on March 30, 1898 shortly before her mother's death. The daughter also went by the name Eliza. Margaret married Frank Whitman Pickard on September 26, 1928. They had two children: Charles (November 23, 1929 to July 1, 2016) and Katherine Pickard (died March 9, 2011). This bookcase probably came down the Moffitt-Edgar line to Charles.
