Commentaires : | The Provincial Grand Orange Lodge of New Brunswick started in 1838 and at that time there was an estimated 40-50 lodges in New Brunswick. But, it wasn't until 1844 that a warrant from the Sovereign Grand Lodge of British North America was given to operate the present Grand Orange Lodge in New Brunswick. By 1851 there were 150 lodges. L.O.L. Keswick Ridge No. 81 was oranized on July 4, 1921 by Rev. David Jones. There were 25 charter members including Elbridge Jewett (K18.29.92) who acted as Financial Secretary. For many years the Lodge contributed 25 dollars annually to the Protestant Orphanage in Saint John, New Brunswick. In 1980, the Worshipful Master was Cecil Reynolds. The manufacturers of the hat, Ambrose Kent and Sons of Toronto, started in 1867 as jewellers and watch makers before branching out into manufacturing regalia in the 20th century. |
