Description : | A board game consisting of two pieces of cardboard that open up to show a map of Alaska and British Columbia (with the Yukon included but not denoted). Starting in the Pacific Ocean at the mouth of the Yukon River is a white circle with a red "1" in it; the steps continue climbing in number and alternating from red to white up the Yukon River passing landmarks such as Circle City, Fort Cudahy, Klondike, Dawson, Chilcoot Pass and Dyea. The circles end at the blue, "43" located at Juneau. Difficulties and advantages are faced along the way and include: The Rocks, Wet Ammunition, Ice, Sunshine and Good Weather, Rapids of the Yukon, Sickness, Sunken Boats, Camp of Bad Men, Mounted Police, Sprained Ankle, Runaway Dogs, Fine Weather, Blizzard and Highway Men. At the bottom of the game it reads, "Horsman's game of Klondike: A game of surprises and divers dangers and success to the persevering. Copyright 1897 by Maraquita Bangs... by EI Horsman, New York.". The back of the game is covered in black leatherette and on one side is embossed with gold ink that reads, "Horsman's Game of Klondike, A game of surprises and divers dangers and success to the persevering, Game of Klondike". |
