Description : A pair of old-fashioned shoeless metal skates with a platform (for a shoe to sit) and a blade. On the platform is stamped: "Left 11 1/2," and "Right 11 1/2". Both blades read: "Genuine Acme Club", "The Starr MFG. Co. Makers Halifax N.S. Canada".
Fonctions : John Forbes of The Starr Manufacturing Company patented the acme skate in 1866. Its design of a curved blade with rounded ends was made specifically for hockey and the fast turning used in the game. The company boasted of its skate, "Still ahead of the competitors. Adjustment simple, secure and effective.
