Description : | Threshing machine; sloping table leads to a large wooden drum which is studded with square spikes, behine drum is the shaker, which consists of a ridged table whose double floor is first made of perforated boards and then of perforated sheet of metal, the sheaves of grain were placed on the table and fed into the drum, there the grain was knocked off the head, the grain and straw then passed onto the shaker which vibrated, allowing the grain to fall through the holes in its bottom onto the floor, the straw passed over end of machine, grain would then have to be put through a fanners to remove chaff, the drum was belt driven, another belt ran from drum to shaker mechanism |
