| Description : | horse drawn hay rake; two large iron wheels rotate an axis in the centre of which is a cog, when the rake is triped this cog engages a bar on which the curved tynes of the rake are mounted, this lifts the tyne releasing the hay they have gathered, the hay is pushed off the tynes by metaal rods that run back from a front framework on which is located the drivers seat and the levers used to trip the rake, mounted on the front of the rake is a swing to which the horse could be hitched, shafts are missing |
