Description : | Tall iron parlor stove, Fawcett; Four legged base, 1 missing; Base circular in cross section; Immediately above base 2 hinged doors which are opened to clean out ashes; Ashes allowed to fall into this bottom area by pulling a ring which opens a trap bottom in the next section; The next section is actually 2 sections; Each has 4 doors; Most of the doors have 4 panes of glass, but on some the glass has been replaced by tin; The top of these 2 sections is a bit potbellied; The next section is circular and vertical with mock doors; The back of it has round stove pipe opening; top section of stove is circular with sloped sides and has a ball shaped finial mounted on a round base; Underneath this base is iron lid; iron ring with scalloped edges around the top section. Geometric and foliate etchings all over. Finial at top. Period designation late Victorian |
