Description : | Tall case clock; removable capital; door to clock face has glass panel and square brass pull to open; door flanked by columns; face is squared with domed top, dome tracks days of the month/ moon phases- rotating color image behind half circle indicator from 1 to 29; below a circular clock face marked with roman numerals, ad two highly ornate hands, marked in black though the center of the clock face "TRENAMAN (space) P.E.ISLAND"; two brass key holes below; weight case has a door with brass lock and rectangular inlay in lower portion; base is inlaid with sections of veneer, probably oak; main body of clock is likely mahogany; sits on four feet; back and innards and likely spruce; metal key for weight case remains with clock |
Commentaires : | This clock was crafted by a local watch and clock maker, John Trenaman. John Trenaman was a well known watch and clock maker in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. In the 1863 Island directory, he was listed as a Jeweller & Watchmaker; his offices were located on the North side of Queen Square in Charlottetown. |
