| Commentaires : | Per appraiser's notes: H. Ashby's (1744-1815) map of 1798 is celebrated for being the first map to give the Island its present name. The Prince Edward for whom the Island was named was Edward, duke of Kent, and then the Commander-in-Chief of British Forces in North America. This map was purchased by a local resident of PEI, Mr. MacNutt in London, England at either Jonathan Potter or Map House in 1985 and brought back to the Island. |
