| Description : | A collection of 33 campaign buttons most from the period of the First World War, including 9 plain with facial portraits. 8 with facial portraits and a band of red, white and blue stripes surrounding. 2 with the design of the British flag. 9 with various flags depicted 2 with battleships, plus three odd Canadian buttons. (a) portrait James Riley, smaller button with three quarters portrait of man wearing pince nez glasses and "James Whitcomb Riley" in script beneath, mfg: The Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newmark, N.J. (b) Asquith portrait, full face portrait of man with "The Rt. Hon. H.H. Asquith" printed around edge. (c) Kitchener portrait, full face portrait of man with centre part in hair and large walrus mustache with "Lord Kitchener" printed beneath, mfg: The Whitehead & Hoag Co., Toronto, Ont. (d) Jellicoe portrait, full face of man wearing cocked hat and high collared uniform with "Sir J.R. Jellicos" printed beneath. Marks: on d, pencilled on back "TR GO" mfg: Whitehead & Hoag. Toronto. (h) Field Marshall French portrait with colours, three quarter portrait of neatly mustached man in flat military cap with "Field Marshall Sir John French" printed around, and coloured edge band of British flag stripes, mfg: Whitehead & Hoag, Toronto. (i ) British flag, coloured picture of British flag flying, with "Shoulder to shoulder" printed around top. (j) British and Canadian flags, coloured picture of British flag crossed with Canadian flag, printed with "One for all All for one". (k) four flags, coloured picture of four flags in a row, the British, Canadian French, and a solid green flag with a white upside down "4" seemingly, symbol, and "United we stand" printed at edge. (1) blue flag, picture of blue flag on flagstaff. British flag canton in upper corner, and red diamond emblem in lower corner diagonally.
