Résumé
The focus of this research project is to identify suitable approaches used in the treatment of acrylic paintings. The goal is to acquire a general sense of the kinds of problems displayed by acrylic paintings and the most commonly used methods and materials used by painting conservators in their treatment of acrylic paintings. A census composed of thirty questions, has be sent to one hundred and ninety painting conservators in North America and abroad. The purpose of the information, based on the responses collected from the questionnaire, will document the typical symptoms or problems of deterioration and damage that acrylic paintings tend to exhibit, thereby acting as a valuable resource material to conservators as well as documenting treatment approaches conservators have used to treat these problems.
