- The Arthur M. Sackler Gallery recently acquired a collection of "Kubachi" plates, dating from the 15th to 17th century. The purpose of this research project was to carry out a preliminary exploration of how the glaze of each plate was produced and determine its chemical composition. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used in the backscattering mode to image polished cross-section samples of each plate.
