- This thesis describes the framing and presentation of a painting, painted on both sides and with the tacking margins cut off. A survey of historical and modern frames and presentation techniques of double face paintings on canvas aims at demonstrating possible solutions for this problem. Satrting from a suggestion found in the literature, the four edges were lined to allow a renewed mounting. The development and making of the frame and its special mounitng device as well as the mounting procedure are described. The frame consists of a stretching mechanism with springs, combined with a movable frame inset set into a two part decorative frame for presentation of the two faces.
