- The purpose of this research project is to first isolate and identify the individual materials present in three pre-manufactured canvas boards with the use of Fourier Transform Infrared (F.T.I.R) Spectrometry, and secondly, to find their individual mechanical properties from the literature and to observe the boards' behaviors under different percentages of relative humidities. The three types of canvas boards that are being investigated are common brands found in most art supply stores, Fredrix, Artists' Choice by Demco Mfg., and Art Masters.
