- This thesis reports research on the principle of paint-based dosimetry of museum conditions performed in the course of the EU supported ERA project (Environmental research for Art Conservation). The idea was tested to use the physico-chemical response of egg tempera paint to its environment as an indicator of the environmental stress. It describes the rationale and approach of the research project. A variety of paint systems with different composition was prepared, cured and exposed under museum and laboratory conditions. A description of the preparation of the paints and their exposure conditions is provided.
