- Résumé
- Pigments from fourteen Ocucaje pots were analyzed. The pots belong to the Soldi collection from the Instituto de Conservacion Yachay Wasi, Lima, Peru. The pots are Ocucaje fine-ware style from the Upper Ica valley. Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM), Microchemical tests and Scanning Electron Microscopy/ Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) were performed to characterize the pigments. The main aim of the study was to identify the composition of the pigments and to compare the results according to the Ocucaje sequence established by D. Menzel, J. Rowe and L. Dawson in 1964. Red, orange and yellow pigments showed to be iron oxides and white pigments showed to be mixtures of iron oxides, silica and alumina.
