- This study investigates the corroded surfaces of seven silver alloy coins recovered from the San Pedro de Alcantara shipwreck site. The objective of the study was to characterize the microstructure and corrosion of the coins and to develop a hypothesis on the deterioration mechanisms they underwent in the archaeological environment.
