Résumé
This study was based on trials carried out using lasers operating not only at different wavelengths, but also at different energy densities, beam widths and pulse lengths. In addition only one of these lasers (the Nd-YAG) had been adapted specifically for conservation use. As the study was based largely on observations, the proposed mechanisms of coating removal, paint layer damage and pigment alteration have not been verified.
