Résumé
The results from a comparative study of the effects of unstabilised hydrogen peroxide applied as an aqueous spray are presented. Three different, artificially aged, papers have been studied. The effects of the hydrogen peroxide treatment are compared to the effects of a calcium hypochlorite treatment and to a control washed in purified water. Finally the results of the study are discussed. The results suggest that hydrogen peroxide applied as spray may cause degradation in some papers. The role of sizin and impurities in the paper are discussed. The need for more research on the effects of restoration bleaching on different kinds of paper is pointed out.
