Résumé
  • L’nuey, the Mi’kmaw rights organization for Epekwitk/Prince Edward Island, has created this archive of textual documents to help address gaps in the historiography of Epekwitnewaq Mi’kmaq. These documents have been scanned from a range of cultural repositories over the course of several years and multiple rights-based research projects. L’nuey has partnered with the Robertson Library to make this collection freely accessible and searchable through the Library’s Island Archives site.
  • Here you will find a wide variety of documents pertaining to the history of Epekwitnewaq Mi’kmaq, including government documents such as proclamations, reports, and official correspondence; community texts such as petitions and appeals; private correspondence and writings; archival published material like pamphlets and newspaper accounts, and more. In some instances, the quality of the scanned document is less than ideal due to the quality of the original.
  • These documents reflect the common biases and perspectives of the time and place in which they were created. Some of the terminology used may be offensive. We advise reader caution as perusal may cause harm or trauma.
