Résumé
The treatment of artifacts that had been damaged by fire (woven wool ceintures fléchées, beaded or embroidered moccasins, and a bearskin boot) and transported from a small museum in northern Ontario to Ottawa is discussed. It was necessary to chip them loose from the ice that had formed as a result of being sprayed with water. They were dried in a conventional freezer, a process that took several months. They were cleaned and stabilized according to common procedures for skin artifacts, for beads, and for textiles. Products, their suppliers, and the tools and methods used are indicated.
