Résumé
In 1984, the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) initiated a new approach to adhesive testing. Now, eight years later, poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAC) and Acrylic adhesives have been aged and tested, for the most part, according to the new approach. This paper will discuss the 1984 approach, the deviations made from this approach, and the reasons for these differences. The results of the various tests, some of which have been published elsewhere, will be reported, and the collective results will be analyzed to identify those adhesives with the most suitable and stable properties for conservation.
