Résumé
Three Working Groups of the ICOM International Committee on Musical Instrument Collections were invited to visit and evaluate the newly installed exhibits at the Ringve Museum (Trondheim, Norway), Musikmuseet (Stockholm), and Musikhistorisk Museum og Carl Claudius Samling (Copenhagen). One of the Working Groups was concerned with conservation and security. It considered the condition of the instruments displayed, their safety on display, the stability of display materials, and the maintenance of the exhibits (through regular examinations, environmental monitoring, and upgrading of display techniques). A short evaluation is given of the environmental control systems of each museum. Also provided in the Working Group's report are recommendations for mounting and support of instruments.
