- Default value (required) when mapping to Artefacts Canada. Museums do not need to record this data within their collections management systems unless required for in-house functions. This information can be entered as a ‘default’ value on the CHIN Artefacts Canada mapping table, so that the institution province is automatically added to each record that you upload to Artefacts Canada.

- Comments
- Edits were made to this field in May 2010. Data entry rules were made more precise, and harmonized with those recommended in Cataloging Cultural Objects: A Guide to Describing Cultural Works and Their Images. By Murtha Baca, Patricia Harpring, Elisa Lanzi, Linda McRae, and Ann Whiteside. Visual Resources Association. Chicago: American Library Association, 2006. Website: http://www.vrafoundation.org/ccoweb/index.htm (accessed 2010-03-05).
- Entry rules
- Enter the name of the province in full. Do not use multiple entries. Repeating the same information in each record is not necessary, because data in this field may be automatically generated. Capitalize proper names. Avoid abbreviations. Record the province name in the language of the catalogue record. Use diacritics as appropriate. Do not invert the name.
