- Edits were made to this field in May 2010. Data entry rules were made more precise, and harmonized with those recommended in Cataloging Cultural Objects: A Guide to Describing Cultural Works and Their Images. By Murtha Baca, Patricia Harpring, Elisa Lanzi, Linda McRae, and Ann Whiteside. Visual Resources Association. Chicago: American Library Association, 2006. - Entry rules
- Enter the second level of classification. Multiple entries are allowed. Follow precisely the headings of the classification system you are using. Use of an established classification system is encouraged, but if you are developing your own categories, use the singular form where the term refers to a broad type. Uncertain data should be followed by space and "?". If possible, do not duplicate any term used in Object Name or Object Type fields; select a term that categorizes the object more broadly than the term used in Object Name and Object Type.
