- This field contains the preferred title for the object. For fine art and other objects that are titled (e.g. books, CDs, records), the title is based on that assigned by the artist or writer. A title can be attributed by the curator for a work that has no title. For objects that are not titled (e.g. household objects, tools, equipment, clothing, etc.), Title is not required.

- Strongly recommended for uploading to Artefacts Canada where applicable for the object. Required field for uploading to Artefacts Canada for data contributed to Artefacts Canada as part of a CHIN-funded project (e.g. VMC) where applicable for the object.

- Enter the preferred title in full in English or French, without quotation marks or additional punctuation. Do not use multiple entries; if the object has multiple titles, record the preferred title in Title, and the others in related fields (e.g. Original Title, Title Variation, or Title Translation fields). Use a title in the language of the catalogue record as the preferred title. For works of fine art: if the object has a title assigned by the creator (or a title that it is commonly known by), use that title; check authoritative sources where possible and follow the capitalization and punctuation of the source. If there is important information in the title (e.g. information about the subject, materials, location, etc), also record that information in the appropriate fields. If the artist, writer, maker or designer did not assign a title, this field is left blank. Do not use the term untitled unless the creator has deliberately named the work Untitled.
