This field identifies absolute dates as determined by various specific laboratory techniques, which can be assigned to cultures found at the archaeological site.
NOTE: This field has NOT been updated as part of the May 2010 Data Dictionary update. Priority for the Data Dictionary update was given to those fields that are required or strongly recommended for Artefacts Canada contribution. The Entry Rules for this field will be updated at a later date.
Entry rules
Enter the date of the site, the error margin, and the lab number, from earliest to most recent. If a technique other than Radiocarbon 14 is used, enter the technique in parentheses after the lab number. Absolute dates are dates Before Present (BP). An archaeological conference has accepted 1950 as a standard for computing dates BP. A semicolon and a space should separate multiple entries.
