Field definition
This field indicates the name of the district or its equivalent where the object originated. A district is generally a major division of a province such as the District of Mackenzie.

NOTE: This field has NOT been updated as part of the May 2010 Data Dictionary update. Priority for the Data Dictionary update was given to those fields that are required or strongly recommended for Artefacts Canada contribution. The Entry Rules for this field will be updated at a later date. This field was added to Artefacts Canada in 2009 as a result of a recommendation by the CHIN Standards Working Groups.
Entry rules
Enter the name of the district in full and omit the word 'District'. Attributed data should be followed by space "?". A semicolon and a space should separate multiple entries.
Cataloguers rules
The Fish & Wildlife administrative regions are sometimes used as district equivalents in British Columbia. Districts which are county equivalents can be entered in Origin-County (ORCY).
