PadCAD can be used to design protective cushions for the shipment of fragile objects.
It allows the user to apply commercial design methods without graphs or repetitive calculations. PadCAD’s internal calculations are performed using equations that accurately replicate the data contained in published dynamic cushioning curves. Complete pad layouts can be quickly evaluated for three basic object shape categories. Users can also evaluate the performance of their own pad layouts for any object shape.
PadCAD was developed at the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) as a general purpose package design program for museum artifacts. The information in this program is accurate to the best of our knowledge. However, CCI has no control over the materials that will be used to pack and transport objects or methods of handling and transportation, so no representation or expressed or implied warranty is made as to any particular results of the packing, handling, and transportation of objects in accordance with this program.
