Narrative: This diver's boot was found, underground, at the donor's address in Truro, N.S. This item was the standard boot used by hard hat divers. It was used in the period 1850-1890; since that time the leather top has been replaced. There was a Maritime Diving Company in Halifax during the 19th century. The company worked on salvage jobs. The combined weight of a pair of these boots would have been 35 lbs.
