Description: | HORSEHAIR FABRIC: Warp: Light brown coarse threads (cotton?); 10 threads to 1.0cm. Weft: Black horsehair; approx. 30 threads to 1.0cm. Right side finish is smooth with a high sheen. Underside has a rougher texture and little sheen. These pieces are assumed to have been upholstered to dental chairs owned by the donor, Dr. Ben Gibson, judging by the shapes of the pieces. Horsehair is hair from the mane or tail of the horse.; Fibre; width 49 cm; length 56.5 cm |
