The second man is David Porter. He is wearing a dark vest and pants, with a white shirt. The young girl standing in front of him is Helen Ireland, Charles' daughter. She is wearing a white dress. Following them are Nell (Ireland) Forster, Fanny (Dynes) Smith, and Maud Porter.
History of Use: Charles Tupper Ireland was born on 17 January 1883 in Ireland House, the ninth child born to John and Eliza Ireland. Also known as Tuppy, he married Mary Jane (Daisy) Allen on 15 April 1917 in Burlington. Daisy was born on 2 May 1887. They had their only child, Helen Mary, on 21 February 1918. Two years later, Daisy died following a flu epidemic. As Charles was also suffering from the flu when she died, Helen went to live with Charles' sisters. Charles died 30 December 1965.

Charles was a salesman for a washing machine company in Hamilton. After Daisy's death, Charles lived with his sisters and later, returned home to Ireland House. Charles had a close relationship with his niece, Marie, while his own daughter saw him more as an uncle.

Helen Mary Ireland, born 21 Feb 1918 in Hamilton, was the only child of Mary Jane (Daisy) Allen and Charles Tupper Ireland. Daisy passed away in 1920 when Helen was only 2 years old; Helen went to live with her Aunt Maud in Hamilton (sister of Charles), and then her Aunt Nell (another sister) from 1930-1948 and went to McMaster University; she then moved to Lakefield, Ontario until 1951. Helen was a Case Worker for the Children's Aid Society in Hamilton from 1959-1983. In 1985, she became the Executor of Marie Ireland Bush's estate and was responsible for donating all of the Ireland House furnishings to the Museum.

Helen married Charles Clelland Caldwell on 17 Nov 1948 in Hamilton. Charles, born 26 April 1919, died of a heart attack due to complications from a surgery on 13 March 1959, when he was only 39 years of age. He was a manager of the Royal Bank in Aldershot.

Ellen Charlotte Ireland was born on 15 January 1874, the 4th child born to John and Eliza Ireland. Also known as Nell, she married William Heard Forster on 13 September 1905 in Nelson. William was born on 23 October 1873. He was the president of the Pure Milk Company in Hamilton (later Hamilton Pure Milk Co.). Nell passed away on 15 April 1950 when she was 76 years old. William passed away 19 December 1955.

According to Helen Caldwell, Nell was the matriarch of the family; all members of the family came to her with problems. Both Nell and William were extremely generous and helped many in financial situations. Helen lived with Nell and William through high school and university until she got married.

Eliza Maud Mary Ireland was born on 22 February 1879 in Ireland House, the seventh child born to John and Eliza Ireland. Also known as Maud, she married David Porter on 11 April 1917 at St. John's Anglican Church. David was born 2 December 1883 in Appleby (Burlington). Maud and David lived in Copetown and then Waterdown. David was a farmer in Copetown and member of Christ Church in Greenville, Ontario. He was also a life member of the Burlington Lodge No. 165, A.F. & A.M. (Masonic) in Burlington, Ontario. Maud passed away on 24 September 1964. David passed away 25 June 1954.

According to Helen Caldwell, she went to live with Maud and David after her mother passed away in 1920. Helen lived with the Porter's until high school, when she went and lived with the Forster's in Hamilton. Helen spent most holidays and weekends with the Porter's.
