Description : | This policeman's billy club has been carved out of one solid piece of wood, and is slightly curved. The rounded portion of the handle of the billy club has been carved and a small piece of string is attached, allowing it to be hung on a wall. While the handle of the billy club is a brownish colour, the rest of the billy club is black with what appears to be a floral design. A small amount of white paint has also been placed on the billy club, so the accession number could be written in black ink. |
Commentaires : | The policeman's billy club is a hard wooden stick that would be used by a policeman while making an arrest, should physical violence be required. It is unknown whether this billy club belonged to one of the policemen that were stationed in Ferryland when the building that the Historic Ferryland Museum is in was a Court House. This billy club is displayed next to the small jail cell at the back of the court room. |
