Description : Some attempts to cross the Atlantic were brave and daring, others were foolhardy and careless. In 1928 Lieutenant Commander Harry C. Macdonald attempted to fly solo in his moth bioplane. Macdonald left Harbor Grace airstrip but fell victim to the stormy Atlantic weather and was lost, with not trace of him or his plane ever found. This picture shows (from left to right) Carlisle (mechanic), Harry Archibald (strip supervisor) and Lieutenant Commander Macdonald.
