Description : | A black cast iron kettle with a lid, spout and wire handle. It was used for boiling water on a stove or open fire. There is a raised edge around the center of the kettle and spout which indicates that it was made in two pieces and then moulded together. The wire handle is attached to the kettle through ears on each side. It has a sliding lid with a steamhole vent in the center. The spout is shaped like a goose neck with a > - shape top. Because of its moulded shape, this kettle could fit into a cookstove well. |
