| Description : | A brown oval-shape block with iron wrapped around the outside with a loop for attaching to a tackle. Inside the block is a round piece of wood with an iron center called a sheave which is bolted through the middle of the block. This block was designed for running ropes through and it also helped to prevent the wear and tear on ropes.The block and tackle was used in the fishing industry for lifting heavy objects from the wharf to the boat. |
