Description : | The dish set consist of three cups and three saucers. The color is pink, white and gold trim. The three cups have the following pictures; The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, St. John's, NL; The Church of England Cathedral, St. John's, NL and The Harbour of St. John's, NL. The saucers have a scalloped edge. Each cup has the inscription written underneath the picture. The pictures on the dishes were done by a process known as transfer printing. Transfer printing involved the application of oil and colouring oxide to a dish containing the design. Tissue paper was then pressed against the dish and the coloring oxide was transferred. The paper was then placed on another dish thus transferring the pattern. Black was one of the most common colours used in this process. |
