Description : | The artifact is a red wool carder that was used for mechanically carding wood. It consists of a small spool and a larger spool that was turned by an iron handle. Both spools have needles and the wool was put through them for cleaning. There is a tin tray attached to the small spool for catching the wool. It is a hand-made reproduction of the "Mechanical Wool Carders" that were imported in Newfoundland by "Nonia." It is displayed on a brown wooden stool. |
