Description : | A brown double deadeye used in ships rigging and made of round galvanized steel bar stock that has been forged into three loops. It is egg corn shape with a ring attached. Deadeyes were used in the rigging of the sails and had ropes woven through them that acted much like a pulley and provided tension. Double and triple deadeyes were also used in conjunction with the lines that supported and stabilized the mast of a ship. |
